Eastern FC Happenings! 2015 Update

What's Happening at Eastern FC?

Happy New Year! 2014 was full of some excellent highlights. We graduated another full team to college, the Lancers repeated as NPL Champions, numerous tournament championships, Mariano Rivera was amazing at our Foundation Dinner, our U20 team provided a place for college players to train and compete during the summer, the Danbury Sportsdome opened to become one of the most state of the art facilities in the tri state area, new players  joined the club, and so much more.

With all the progress that 2014 brought us, we expect to develop and improve even more in 2015. Currently, our club is growing and we are so excited about the future. Here are some of the highlights that will serve as the foundation of development for 2015.

Our Youth Development Program at OnTrack Sport Center, in Tarrytown, for ages for 4-7 year olds has been a huge success. We have had the ability to incorporate our EFC Curriculum which focuses on developing individual skills, teamwork, and, most importantly, a love for the game. We are currently beginning our second 8 week program, which boasts some excellent players for the future of the club. In addition, EFC YDP is also running an after school program at the French American School, which includes first and second grade students.

EFC Youth Development Program Director, Brandon Beck, stated, “Our club is not only about developing premier soccer players, but it is also about fostering an extensive love for the game for anyone who wants to play. Our coaches are capable of working with players of all ages, and we are excited about the development thus far. The program has been a huge success.”

There are very few spots remaining for our YDP @ OnTrack, so if you are interested in signing up, please visit our site:

On Friday, February 13, 25 players and 4 EFC Coaches will board a plane for a 10 day trip to England, which is set to be an unforgettable experience. The boys will train with English Premier League Academy Coaching Staff, train at the Academy Facilities, compete against EPL academy teams, and see MANCHESTER CITY VS. NEWCASTLE (A top EPL match competition). Look for them on TV!

Tour Director, Ray Franklin, said “We are so excited to head back to England. It is going to be an amazing learning experience for these boys, and we are excited to take them on the journey.”

Newly added in 2015, we have added an additional training session for all players ages 9-12 on Saturdays, 12pm-1:30pm at our new facility in Tarrytown, NY, the EF International School. Last week there were 32 players in attendance, and we look forward to even more. The focus of the session is on skill development, and most importantly, improving skills through small sided games. We incorporate a fast, futsal surface, and players get a chance to improve their skills in confined spaces which is critical for development.

The following players from Eastern FC were selected for PDP:

Steven Lopez, 2002

Steven Lugo, 2002

Devin Juros, 2001

Paul Russo, 2001

James Varriano, 2001

Mark Kyriakidis, 2001

Blerim Kastrati, 2000

Omar Espinoza, 2000

Zachary Kardian, 2000

Ian Ward, 2000

US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues (NPL) are not only designed to provide top-level competition for participating clubs, they are also created to help improve the long-term player development environment for participating players and teams. Each NPL provides multiple avenues for players to be scouted and evaluated by U.S. Soccer National Staff and Technical Advisors and US Club Soccer id2 Program staff.

This scouting process is operated through the id2 National Player Identification and Development Program and Player Development Programs (PDP), each of which is sanctioned as an Olympic Development Program approved by the United States Olympic Committee and U.S. Soccer Federation. Beyond this event-based objective scouting process, players can also be recommended for the id2 Program and PDP by participating coaches based on their performance in NPL competitions.

US Club Soccer’s id2 Program provides an opportunity for the country’s elite youth soccer players to be identified and developed, while also being scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. A comprehensive national scouting and recommendation program is used to form a player pool from which top players are invited to attend an id2Program Training Camp. There is no cost to the player to be recommended or scouted for the id2 Program or PDP events.

Centered on the NPL, PDPs are regionally-based identification and development programs conducted within the id2 Program. PDP invitations are based upon scouting within the hosting NPL, scouting of NPL clubs and other nearby clubs, as well as recommendations from Directors of Coaching. From this scouting and recommendation process, top players are invited to attend PDP events, which are one way for players to advance into an id2 Program Training Camp, as id2 Program scouts are on-site at all PDP events to scout players for potential inclusion.

The Eastern Soccer Foundation will be having a  member meeting on Wednesday, February 4th. Teams will be having individual representatives represent their team as a liaison. If you are interested, please contact your manager for more information.

Our Mission: The Eastern Soccer Foundation is currently focused on raising money, so that all players will be able to participate in the premier soccer experience. The Foundation is also involved in the continued education of players looking to utilize soccer skills to continue their education. Furthermore, the Foundation utilizes the player base, alumni and families for local philanthropic activities to develop our players into dedicated community members.

Our Vision: Eastern Soccer will be known as a successful premier soccer club with a strong social conscience. The Foundation is focused on developing Eastern Players into bright young men prepared to become leaders of our future.

The Future is Bright

Winter training is in full swing at the club. Indoor tournaments, spring tournaments, and the NPL and NYCSL schedules will be upon us soon. Please make team training your #1 priority, and we look forward to seeing you all on the pitch.
