EFC Rush Nationals Recap: 3rd in the Nation!

EFC Rush Take Third In the Nation

It was an amazing week at the US Club Nationals in Aurora, Colorado. After flight cancelations, changing airports from Laguardia to Newark, and over 24 hours of travel, the entire EFC Rush team landed safely in Colorado. The boys played extremely hard enduring the heat and altitude to come away with the third place spot in the National tournament. The boys enjoyed meals together everyday, participated in pre-game preparation and tactical discussions, watched MLS games together, and went White Water Rafting on the Colorado Rapids.

EFC President, Ray Franklin, traveled with the Rush and enjoyed it thoroughly. “It was a pleasure to be at the Nationals with the players, parents, and coaches. The boys represented Eastern FC at the highest level and I know that the boys learned about the commitment everyone needs to be playing at the next level. This adventure will always be remembered. Good luck to all of the Rush in their High School and college seasons ahead.”

EFC Coaching Director, Beau Morki also traveled to Colorado with the boys. “This tournament was the culmination of all of the hard work that this team has put in all season. They worked extremely hard, bonded as a team, and were an amazing group of young men that I personally enjoyed being with for the past several days.

And finally, the words from EFC Rush head coach, James Oates, were shared with his team after the tournament…

“What a few days it has been. I am extremely proud of the boys, how they played and conducted themselves on and off the field. They have been a credit to themselves, their families and the club. It has also been great how they have all bonded together and looked out for each other creating memories that will last forever. You have finished 3rd in the nation and that is a great achievement, you know that the challenge now is to win it next season! Thank you boys.

I also wanted to say a big thank you to the parents who have supported the team both back in New York with fundraising, support, and organization. Thanks to Mrs. Krupa, Mr and Mrs Kleban, Mr. Koenig, Mr. O'Shea, Mr. Kennedy, Mrs. Crosby who all made the trip, helped with their support, and also rides to and from the fields and around Denver and buying groceries to help with meals for the team. I would like to single out Mrs. Crosby who was unbelievable in arranging fundraising, accommodation, events and so much more - a big thank you to you!

A special mention to our manager Brett who unfortunately could not make the trip but a big thank you to you for all your work this season and also all the hard work supporting the team for this trip as well, It was much appreciated!

Another huge thank you to the Eastern Soccer Foundation for their help in making the trip happen and also to everyone who donated money and time in helping to support the team.

Lastly to Beau, Ray and Savvas whose knowledge, drive and wisdom has helped push the team and allow the boys to do what they do, this was invaluable - thank you.

What a great season, it has been my pleasure to be the coach for the team and I am looking forward to the next one!”

Eastern FC looks forward to sending another team to Nationals next year. We hope the pictures, updates, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds have inspired you all to achieve the goal of reaching this stage next year. We look forward to the future…
