Happy New Years & EFC Quarterly!

Happy New Years from us all at Eastern!

We wanted to take a moment to wish a very special Happy New Years to you all! 2017 is going to be a great year for the Eastern Family. For our players, what is your New Years Soccer Resolution? Is it to...improve your weak foot...attend a 3rd or 4th training session each week...juggle 100 times...juggle 50 times with one foot...Whatever it is, focus on it and you will improve.

We are excited to share with you all our EFC Quarterly Newsletter, which is jam-packed with plenty of updates and recaps from our Club.

Letter from the President:

The Holiday Season brings a nice break from the field to spend some quality time with family and friends. I would like to thank our coaches who have been working extremely hard all Fall to get our teams developing quickly. We are excited about the Winter and Spring, because our teams will quickly improve each and every day. I ask that you all continue to work hard and practice your skills as much as you possibly can.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Ray Franklin

Letter from the Technical Director:

“Winter is all about Futsal”

Our teams have been following a curriculum focused on technical ability and getting to know each other on the field. In our first year as calendar age teams, there were many players playing with each other for the first time. The next step is to now fine-tune our teams through rigorous training. The Winter is all about improving first touch, speed of play, and game awareness through futsal and functional training.

We highly recommend that players attend the Third Training sessions. The dates are below and they begin January 7 & 8th.

Junior Boys: Saturdays: 3-4:30pm @ Fieldston School

Senior Boys: Sundays: 3-430pm @ Fieldston School

I am really excited about 2017! Happy Holidays!

Citrus Drive Recap

This year's citrus sale was a great success. We sold 12,000 pounds of fruit and earned close to $8,000 for the Eastern Foundation. We are deeply grateful to all of the players and families that participated in the sale. A special thanks to Jennifer Molinoff and Jenn Rubin for their tremendous organization and commitment to the success of this event! It could not have been done without you!

Congrats to our top sellers:
Joshua Rubin: 94 boxes
Theo Molinoff: 35 boxes
Anthony Reis: 30 boxes

The Gladiators sold the most fruit - 210 boxes - thanks in large part to the efforts of Josh Rubin.

Eastern Families Donate 1,300 Pounds of Citrus to Hillside Food Outreach

A Thank You Note to EFC below from David Juros and Hillside Food Pantry…Devin Juros began the Pleasantville Community Garden and the Hillside Food Pantry at age 12. He is a player on EFC Real.

A big thank you to Eastern FC families for the huge donation of 1,300 pounds of citrus to the Pleasantville Community Garden and Hillside Food Outreach!

We picked up 81 boxes of assorted fruit - oranges, grapefruit, mandarin oranges and mixed boxes and delivered these all to Hillside in Armonk.

Thanks to the incredible work of Eastern FC - families across Westchester will receive beautiful, healthy fruit for this holiday season.

Thank you to Jennifer Molinoff and her volunteers for helping to organize this great event and for even helping us to load up our vehicles!

We appreciate being part of your citrus fundraiser and thanks for making this huge donation possible!

EFC Alumni Return to Receive Coaching Education

We have been blessed with the opportunity to have many of our EFC Alumni return to coach in our Youth and Community Programs. These players are developing their coaching education with the help of Eastern and they continue to return because they are still very passionate about the game. They return to the Eastern Family, receive USSF and NSCAA licenses, and then get prepared to take their coaching to the next level.

GPS Tourney & Massapequa Showcase Updates

Our High School aged teams did not stop after the High School season ended. In fact, they went right into the college showcase season, because this was a critical time for them to be seen by college coaches. Over Thanksgiving weekend the 2002, 2001, 2000, and 1998 teams attended the GPS College Showcase in Massachusetts. In December, they went to the Massapequa College Showcase. Many college coaches saw them and the boys got quickly involved in the college recruiting process.

Special congratulations to the 2001 Real team who took home champions at both tournaments under the direction of head coach, Beau Morki, and assistant coach, Savvas Kyriakidis.

Congratulations to the EFC 1999/1998 Spurs under the direction of head coach James Oates and assistant coach, Savvas Kyriakidis,  who won the Massapequa Showcase.

2006 Blue Devils On the Top

Congratulations to the 2006 Blue Devils who are playing up in the 2005 NPL division and currently in second place. This group of players quickly transitioned into a calendar year team and has developed rapidly under head coach Ray Franklin. We are excited about their development and their placement in a league playing up is only the icing on the cake.

“They have been a joy to watch since day one and I love working with them!”-Ray Franklin

Keep up the great work boys!!!

Masters Boys Success

Special congratulations to our boys at Masters who went 16-2-1 in simply one of the best seasons in school history. Ahamad Raji (EFC Spurs) and Thomas Oladayo (EFC Spurs) led the team to an exceptional championship winning the Fairchester Athletic Association Championship. The team was led by EFC Coach Rich Franklin. They went on to make it to the semi-finals of the prestigious NEPSAC tournament. Congratulations on an exceptional season.

Alumni Spotlight:

A huge shoutout to Luis “Pochi” Morales for being selected as an ALL AMERICAN playing in his sophomore season for St. Thomas Aquinas College (D2). During his second season he was named League Offensive Player of the Week TWICE, was an All Conference selection, an All Region selection, and now ALL AMERICAN. We are so proud of this EFC Lancer!

In his first season at American International College (MA) he was selected for the Northeast-10 Conference (Division 2) All-Rookie Team. Last year, Stevie was named EFC Player of the year, and we are very proud to see his athletic career continue to the next level. We look forward to seeing him back this summer and playing with our U23s.

A special congratulations to Joe who has completed his career at American University (Division 1). Throughout his career, Joe started in 68 of 82 matches. He ended his career with 17 goals and 15 assists, and managed to have over 169 shots recorded. He was a member of the State Champion EFC Chiefs and we are very proud of Joe!

He emerged as the team’s primary goalkeeper and played in 16 matches for the Privateers during his first season. He is credited with recording eight victories including four shutouts. 2017 Spain Trip

Eastern Soccer Tours Presents…
2017 Spain Trip & Mediterranean International Cup

We have not been to Barcelona, Spain as a club since 2011. The last time we went, it was truly an amazing experience. More information can be found below. We are extremely excited to go! We recommend you register as soon as possible, because this trip will fill up FAST.

Below is a player’s recap of the 2011 experience:

“Spring Break 2011 was a great trip to Spain. We started by training with the FC Barcelona Academy coaches. After training intensely for a few days, we changed hotels and took a beautiful bus ride along the coast to our new destination: Costa Brava for one of the most popular youth soccer tournaments on the planet. The opening ceremonies were awesome! We walked with the American flag in between AJAX, Manchester United, and FC Barcelona Youth Players. Teams from all over the word were in attendance. The Brazilian National Team played in the opening Match in front of the thousands of players participating in the tournament.

Every single game was played in a stadium. Our fans cheered, “U.S.A.” and we were driven on coach buses to and from each match. After the tournament, we returned to Barcelona to see Messi break another scoring record at Camp Nou. It was a trip that I truly enjoyed and was a total Spanish Football experience.”

Advanced Premier Player Development (Ages 12-14)

This program will be only open to a maximum of 14 players. This will guarantee quality coaching with our EFC Premier Coaching Staff. This program will be specifically designed to develop players in a small group setting. The curriculum includes a significant focus on technical ability in small spaces to improve speed of play and decision-making on the field. In addition, the last part of each training session will incorporate goalkeepers, so players can also improve finishing. This is a critical skill that all players need to develop.

Youth Development Program (Ages 4-7)

Eastern's Youth Development Program (YDP) targets youth players. Our high quality coaching and specifically designed curriculum will develop players both technically and tactically, while fostering a love for the game. At these ages, individual technique, foot speed, balance and foot skills are vital for player development. This will be the foundation for our YDP program.

EFC Goalkeeper Training (Ages 9-14)

This goalkeeping program will focus on the fundamentals of Goalkeeping. Each training session focuses on the technical and tactical components of goalkeeping in order to develop goalkeepers into leaders on the field. An EFC Goalkeeper Coach, will lead goalkeepers through a curriculum focusing on improving fundamental catching, breakaways, shot stopping, diving, and communication in defense.
